Client
Ministère des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts (MRNF)
Period
October 25, 2025 – November 19, 2025
Location
MRC de Manicouagan, Côte-Nord

The study includes investigations by stratigraphic drilling and manual drilling, environmental characterization of the soil and an assessment of water quality.

What the mandate includes

The steps of the mandate, from the first investigation to the final deliverable.

  1. Stratigraphic boreholes

To describe the soil layers at depth and collect samples at different levels.

  2. Manual boreholes

For targeted, shallow sampling that complements the stratigraphic boreholes.

  3. Environmental soil characterization

Laboratory chemical analysis of the samples to check the quality of the soil.

  4. Water quality assessment

Groundwater sampling in an observation well, with a pump and a multiparameter probe.

Soil and water: two parts of the same assessment

Contamination does not always stay in the soil: it can migrate into the groundwater. The assessment therefore combines soil samples, collected at different depths, and water samples, drawn from observation wells.

During pumping, the multiparameter probe measures water parameters such as temperature, pH or conductivity on site; the samples are then analyzed in the laboratory. The mandate ran from October 25 to November 19, 2025.
