What the mandate includes

The steps of the mandate, from the first investigation to the final deliverable.

  1. Geotechnical borehole investigations

Boreholes in the streets, with a truck-mounted drill rig, to describe the layers of the existing pavement and the soil beneath.

  2. Environmental characterization

Soil analysis, to determine the quality of the soils.

  3. Recommendations

For the rehabilitation of the existing structures and the construction of the new pavement structures.

What boreholes reveal under a street

A pavement is more than an asphalt surface: it rests on base and subbase layers of granular materials, placed on the natural soil. Their nature and thickness determine how well the street resists traffic and frost.

The boreholes show what is actually under the street and the condition of the subgrade. The rehabilitation recommendations follow from them. The mandate was carried out for the Ville de Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, from October to December 2024.
